Happy Friday! Today I decided I had to share this because this flat bread is something I always order at my favorite restaurant. Although this one wasn’t freshly made and is a slightly different recipe, Trader Joe’s still never fails to amaze me.
You can find this in the freezer section at Trader Joe’s! I followed the directions in preheating my oven to 450•F and baked it on a baking sheet. For some reason though it didn’t get very crispy on the bottom towards the middle. I let it bake for a little bit on the rack alone and would suggest doing the same after it’s been on the sheet for some time if it isn’t to your desired crispiness.
I was really impressed with how the flat bread came out and tasted! I did add bleu cheese to it before I baked it because it didn’t look very cheesy. The restaurant recipe of this flat bread uses bleu cheese so I knew it’d work. If I wouldn’t have done that I’m not sure it would have had that sharp taste bleu cheese gives you, and the flat bread would have been missing something. The caramelized onions and ham were pretty perfect. I was surprised at how sweet the onions were and they didn’t seem like they were once frozen. The ham was average but you can’t expect a 4 star restaurant flat bread from a freezer, right? The crust was something different and I liked the change from the typical doughy pizza crust. It was almost like a puff pastry, yet not as flaky. It was light and crispy!
Overall I would definitely say give this flat bread a go! If you’re looking for something light and quick for lunch it’s perfect. It’s not a heavy flatbread, even with all the delicious and strong flavors, so there’s room for a salad or even dessert. 😉 I also think this would be beautiful as an appetizer at a party! Brighten it up with fresh bleu cheese and your guests will be coming back for seconds and probably thirds.
Here’s to weekend parties with delicious and vibrant food!
