Office Space Inspiration

With the New Year approaching and one of my resolutions being to work on my blog more, I am dreaming of a future office look I hope to have one day. I’m always thinking of new things, so this will probably change by the time I have an actual office space. I have sourced a few items online below. Everything is from Restoration Hardware or Anthropologie, but I love to go out and shop in stores to try and find similar pieces at a lesser cost.

I have put together a more modern look with feminine touches. The office desk and chair could easily be given a more masculine look by using navy or army green colored accents and replacing the meeting chairs with leather club chairs.

Everything will be linked through text below. Contact me with any questions you may have as well!

Winter Wednesday: Coats

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Welcoming myself back! I have been MIA for months from the blog. I am hoping and going to start planning that 2018 is when I officially start to take my blog and dreams to the next level they need to be at. I just like things to be picture perfect, and that has been a challenge for me to achieve.

But today I have a picture perfect post featuring this wool blend Michael Kors coat. The exact style is available at Nordstrom Rack  and Macy’s. I have also linked two similar styles below. Stay warm this winter season, and thanks for coming back!

It may be safe to say that Summer is upon us here in Minnesota! To me this is the time where everyone is ready to start getting back outside and enjoy the warmer weather. It all starts with a great space to either be around yourself or to have together when friends and family are over.

Here I have taken just a few great pieces from Restoration Hardware to start a sophisticated beachy space. With the printed blue colored rug and pillows give off a sense of the beach. Where then the furniture design and finish along with the lanterns bring a more sophisticated look.

I hope this can bring some inspiration to start off your entertaining for the summer!

It’s almost Friday everyone! With warmer weather on its way, I thought I would share some fun pieces I came across online over at Nordstrom!

This blush and white blouse would pair great with the skirt above, or even a pair of jeans for a more casual look. I have been seeing lace all over lately as well. I think the blue dress would be perfect for any spring time occasion. And of course a new handbag can always be put to good use. The pale blue and blushed colored handbags would fit with any of the pieces above!

Hope this can bring you some inspiration for your Springtime wardrobe! Everything is linked in text.

Friday Night Taquitos

taquido-1taquido-2taquido-3 It’s Friday!! At the end of the week I’m always looking for something quick and easy to make for dinner, and I’ve usually given up on cooking healthy. These taquitos fall right under that category! You may feel less guilty about the flour tortilla and cream cheese mixture though if you pair these with mexican quinoa. Check out that recipe I posted awhile back.

Let’s get started on putting these together! I find it easiest to boil the chicken, let it cool slightly and then transfer it to a standing mixer. Use your paddle attachment to shred the chicken, trust me it works! Then you add the cream cheese, shredded cheese and green chiles. You can also add hot sauce if you’d like. I’ve also made taquitos with green onions and a little bit of garlic powder when I’ve been out of green chiles, and they’ve tasted just as great!

I used about 1/4 cup of the mixture per tortilla and got about 8 or so taquitos with having around 3 cups of shredded chicken. I tend to eyeball a lot of things when cooking. I didn’t measure exactly how much chicken I had, but the recipe below gives exact measurements! Instead of frying these as the recipe I found said, I baked my taquitos at 375°F for about 10 minutes, or just until crispy and slightly golden.

Hope you enjoy! xo, G

Recipe for Chicken, Peppers and Cream Cheese Taquitos

  • 3 cups of shredded chicken
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of hot sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 (4.5 ounces) cans of chopped green chiles [I didn’t use this much, depending on how spicy you want them and how much chicken you do shred you may want to use less]
  • flour tortillas

Color Correcting Concealers

makeupmakeup-2

Hello and happy Thursday!

It has been awhile since I have been on here, but today I wanted to share a great find I bought at TJMaxx over the holiday season. I’m not a huge makeup guru and don’t get into all the technicalities of makeup, meaning there is no contour in my life. I am now changed though after using these color correcting foundations. I’ve been mostly  impressed by the yellow color for under my eyes, the green for any redness, and the purple for if my skin is looking dull in certain areas. I tried using the brush and blenders it came with, but they didn’t work at all, so I’ve honestly just been using my finger. Again I’m not in the loop with fancy brushes, but may have to find something to use soon. The consistency of the foundations are too thick to use with a beauty blender. Let me know if anyone has a suggestion!

Unfortunately I could not find this exact Ellen Tracy pallete online. I did find a couple color correcting palletes on Ulta.com! I know once I use this one all up I’ll be going out to try the NYX pallete, L’Oréal pallete or even the Maybelline color correcting concealer.

Here are the links, thanks for stopping by! xo G

Styling Thanksgiving

Happy Holidays Everyone!!

With Thanksgiving coming up soon I thought I would bring you all some inspiration for a table scape! Fall is by far one of my favorite seasons, next to winter, and decorating for it is even better. One of my favorite places to shop for home decor and dinnerware is Pier 1 Imports. They have some really beautiful pieces out right now, and they were too good not to share!

*all photos are from pier1.com, not a sponsored post*

To start the white and gilded pumpkin bowls are a must! Thinking outside the usual Thanksgiving meal and having soup as a starter might be a fun new tradition. I also found a matching charger and napkin ring set to add some sophistication to your table. The leaf patterned napkin caught my eye right away and alternating with a solid color is a really fun look!

Next I love to set a center focal point or look to a table. Pier 1 has these great gold acorn tealights that would be perfect scattered throughout the middle of the table. I would do two for every foot of space you want to fill on your table.

Cake stands for each end of your table are a great way to showcase Thanksgiving pies or treats and to also add height to the look. You always want to make sure you have some dimension when styling your home. Whether that be a table scape, bookshelf or bedroom nightstand.

To tie the center of the table together, garland is an excellent touch. Intertwining it throughout the acorns and cake stands gives it a more cohesive look. Not only do I enjoy making a dining table look festive, I also love to bring in some fall pillows. If your furniture is neutral enough, changing out the pillows each season can bring an easy fresh new look to your space.

I hope you found this useful, comment with any questions you may have. I’d be happy to help with any design questions! Wishing you all a safe, happy and fulfilling holiday season!

Hi everyone! It’s been awhile since my last post and I’ve been meaning to share this great recipe I came across at the end of summer. It was the perfect change to the typical taco night at our house. Don’t let the quinoa scare you either! I know it’s not the most popular grain people choose, but in this dish you hardly know it’s there, and it’s such a lighter option rather than using rice. This is one to try! 🙂

I know fall is right around the corner but this recipe is perfect any time of the year. You use canned beans, corn and diced tomatoes. The avocados, limes and cilantro may be hard to find but the avocados and limes can easily be substituted for sour cream and bottled lime juice. If you can’t find the cilantro in fall or winter months you’ll be fine omitting it. I’ll leave the recipe and link to it from the website I found this on!

Go check it out, you know you want to!

One Pan Mexican Quinoa

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno, minced (I omitted this and still thought it was great)
  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup corn kernels, frozen, canned or roasted
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 avocado, halved, seeded, peeled and diced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet (make sure you have a deep skillet or just make it in a large pot, that’s what I did!) over medium high heat. Add garlic and jalapeno, and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Stir in quinoa, vegetable broth, beans, tomatoes, corn, chili powder and cumin; season with salt and pepper (your broth may be salty enough so watch out), to taste. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer until quinoa is cooked through, about 20 minutes. Stir in avocado, lime juice (I left this on the side in wedges for people to taste themselves) and cilantro.
  3. Serve immediately.

Best of the Best – Room Perfume

2 freshner

Bath & Body Works Room Perfume

Hello everyone! I have to share with you the greatest room freshener that you are EVER going to come across. Seriously it really is the best of the best and I’m telling you to head out to your nearest Bath and Body Works now!

This air perfume, as they call it, will brighten up a room with ONE pump. I emphasize on the one because it can get really strong and then it doesn’t smell as good! Although they are little they will last awhile being that you only need so little of it. I just picked these two up a couple days ago (2 for $11), but there are SO many more options! I wanted to buy all the new fall scents but had to stop myself from going too crazy! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, XO G

Red Light = Fully Charged

I’m so excited to share this wristlet! It was a no brainer to purchase after finding it’s also a portable charger. I found this at T.J.Maxx in my town and hope you can find one at your store too. Hurry before they’re gone! There was a tan, purple and blush pink color available.

As you can tell the power pack buttons in so you can don’t always have to have it in the wristlet. You know it is fully charged when you see a red light as it is plugged into an outlet. The wristlet came with a little “instruction” sheet with little tips about the power pack.

I recommend trying to find this wristlet somewhere because it makes so much sense! It’s nice and small so you’re not having to deal with a large charger. Plus the price I paid at T.J.Maxx was way less than if I would have bought a wristlet AND portable charger. Go check out your local T.J.Maxx to hopefully score a great deal too!

Here’s to being fully charged everyday of the week! 🙂
