Furnishing an Apartment – On a Budget

Hi everyone! I’m back today and wanted to share a different kind of post with you all. I recently have been working on a super fun design project, furnishing my future apartment! I’ll be moving in the next week with my boyfriend and thought it would be fun to share the process of designing and purchasing our items for the living room and bedroom. I’ll of course be sharing the final reveal once the time comes. But for now, let’s get started on my vision, price point, and top finds of the space!

Combining two styles to reflect your space. So my boyfriend and I sort of have different styles. I like things to look more upscale, traditional yet modern, with lots of decorated accents. He on the other hand is more minimalist, and much more into the more modern, clean lines look. Our apartment lays out both our styles very well, thankfully. The space is open, white cabinets, gray counters and lightly colored walls.

I knew I wanted the living room to reflect the apartment style, so I’m keeping with gray colors and adding a pop of navy. Since I already had a more modern coffee table, I wanted to find pieces that coordinated well with it, but matched a more traditional look, while feeling upscale. You’ll see below how I did that with a few of the items I found! For our bedroom though, both my boyfriend and I wanted it to feel more cozy and not necessarily match the same style and colors as the rest of the apartment. I went with a completely opposite color selection of creams, taupe and burnt orange. The style is more modern, but the colors and accents will make it feel upscale. You’ll see below the two finds that also kept us on a budget!

Living room finds.

My favorite piece that I can’t wait to put in the living room is this navy velvet bench with brass legs! It was on sale for a little over $100, so it was a very budget friendly piece that kept us on budget. I have it linked here below.

Bedroom finds.

The two pieces of furniture for our bedroom that really kept us on budget were the bed frame and night stands. Our bed frame is very modern and somehow we found one around $200, after all the others looked to be double that price. Then for our nightstands, I didn’t want to spend a lot on them knowing I would probably want different ones eventually. So we found them at Target and had to assemble them ourselves. The assembly was worth the lower price! I have both our bed frame and nightstand linked here below.

I wanted to share a few of the pieces we found, and in the next month I will share a full reveal with more details of what else we picked out and where it was from! Neutral Green Living Space

Hello again everyone! I hope your February is off to a great start and your’e still looking for some design inspiration through this cold weather in MN, and everywhere else. Today I am sharing something not as bright as my last post, but it still has tones of green to bring a feeling of Spring to this long Winter.

I envisioned this space being created for a bachelor pad and therefore wanted to keep it more simple. By adding one large painting and a few pillows and a throw blanket, the space is still pulled together in a sophisticated way. Of course anyone or any family could find themselves comfortable in this room. Let me know what you think and if there are any bachelor’s in need of a room makeover!

Neutral Animal Nursery

What’s the next cutest thing to a brand new baby? Baby animals! That’s exactly what the inspiration was for this nursery. I came across the cutest animal paintings by Kate and Laurel from Target. There were so many to choose from, but I ended up picking the baby lion, bear and cheetah. I wanted to keep this nursery gender neutral, as I envisioned a more natural space surrounding the art pieces.

The furniture I found is more modern, as are most of the accent pieces, but this design could totally be done around a more traditional styled home. You could change out the side table and dresser for something with a cleaner look and simpler lines. That’s the fun thing about design, things can always be changed up or replaced! Let me know what you think, XO, G.

A Grey Glamour Master Bedroom

I’m back with another master bedroom design! It’s been awhile and I want to make sure I am still incorporating ideas and designs for every room in your home.

This was a really fun one to put together, because, everything is from Target! When you can bring your vision all together from one place, it makes things easier. Of course you’ll always want to shop around for prices and quality, but this got the job done for this glamorous grey envisioned space!

This space is traditional, yet modern enough to bring in some fun accent pieces. My favorite is the little seating and dressing space of the room. I’ll have everything linked below, take a look! XO, G.

Navy Blue Star Nursery

Hello! I’m excited to share this star/constellation themed nursery today with you all! It’s sort of a classic and something you may see quite a bit in nurseries, but I wanted to keep it simple and sophisticated. The light blue greyish wall color will grow with your child, and the rug could be used in any room of the house. Also, once the topper on the dresser is removed, you have a timeless piece of furniture to keep forever!

Take a look and let me know if you have any questions or are in need of some design guidance or more inspiration! I’ll have everything linked through its description below. XO, G

Bright & Organized Kids Space

Hi everyone and happy Friday! If you didn’t catch my last post, you may have missed that I am looking to bring designs for every room in your home as always, but to include the kids now too! So, today I am bringing you the same thing, but this time a shared kids space. For many families there is usually one room in the home dedicated for the kids to go off and play or be creative in. I know as a kid I always loved having my own creative space to go to, other than my bedroom.

Check out the design below! I wanted to keep it bright and colorful, add in some storage, and keep it comfy with a fun rug and lots of pillows. I visioned a chalkboard wall, as well as a table and chairs to let the kids color or paint. My favorite thing as a kid was my pretend kitchen, so of course I had to find a fun one to add! The canopy is also a fun place for kids to escape and read in, so I wanted to find lots of pillows to fill in the canopy. I’ll have everything linked below through text. Let me know if you have any questions or are looking for some design guidance! Thanks for stopping by, xo G

Coloring Apartments

Hello! It’s finally Thursday! I’ve started my week off with a full plate of things to check off the list, but I wanted to get a post out this week, so here I am!

I love spaces that incorporate color, allowing your eyes to open up in the space. Below you can see I used a lot of greens and blues, which are my favorite bright neutral colors to use in shared living spaces. You might be terrified of the green couch, thinking it looks outdated, but remember things can always be brought to life with accents such as pillows, throw blankets and the furniture around them. Risk in design can be really fun sometimes! Take a look and check out the links below to find each piece.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! XO, G
